PapertrekBeta
πŸ₯Ύ The submission tracker for researchers

From first draft to published β€” every paper, tracked.

Papertrek keeps your whole submission pipeline in one place β€” statuses, deadlines, revisions, co-authors β€” and imports your work from ORCID and Crossref.

No credit card Β· Import from ORCID in one click Β· Built for juggling more than one manuscript.

A spreadsheet can’t remind you about a revision deadline.

Most researchers track submissions in a spreadsheet, a Notion page, or their memory. It works β€” until you’re juggling six papers, two are under review, one revision is due next week, and you’re not sure whether you ever heard back from that journal. Papertrek is built for exactly this.

How it works

Three steps, then it mostly runs itself.

STEP 1

Import your work

Connect ORCID or upload a BibTeX file β€” your publications are in within seconds.

STEP 2

Move papers along the pipeline

Drag each manuscript through the stages, from idea to published. Log submissions, revision rounds and reviewer notes as you go.

STEP 3

Never miss a deadline

Revision deadlines land on your dashboard and in your calendar, with enough lead time to actually finish.

Everything the pipeline needs

Purpose-built for the submission lifecycle β€” not a repurposed spreadsheet.

One clear pipeline

Idea β†’ drafting β†’ under review β†’ revision β†’ published. Every manuscript’s stage at a glance.

Two outcomes per paper

Track the preprint and the journal version separately β€” one manuscript can be both.

Deadlines that find you

Revision timers on your dashboard and a calendar feed you can subscribe to.

Full submission history

Every submission and revision round, with reviewer notes and cover letters, on one timeline.

Co-authors & target journals

Keep a ranked shortlist of target journals per paper, and every co-author on record.

Import, not data entry

Pull your record from ORCID or BibTeX and fill DOIs from Crossref, so you don’t retype metadata.

A publication list for free

Turn accepted work into a clean, shareable list β€” from the same data.

Your record, your data

EU-hosted, GDPR-friendly, export anytime. No lock-in.

Why not a spreadsheet?

Spreadsheet / Notion
Manual, silent about deadlines, no ORCID import, breaks as it grows.
Reference managers
Zotero, Mendeley
Organize the papers you read β€” not the papers you’re writing.
ORCID / Google Scholar
Show what’s already published β€” not what’s in the pipeline.
Papertrek
The one place for work in progress.

Questions

Is my data private?

Yes β€” hosted in the EU, GDPR-friendly, and you can export or delete everything at any time.

Do I have to enter everything by hand?

No. Import your record from ORCID or a BibTeX file, and fill in metadata from a DOI via Crossref with one click. On Pro, new papers on your ORCID record sync in automatically.

Which fields does it cover?

Any β€” journal articles, conference papers, preprints, book chapters. Journal-based and conference-based workflows both fit.

Can co-authors see a paper?

Not yet. You can record co-authors on every manuscript today, and share a read-only page for any work. Giving co-authors their own access is coming soon.

What does it cost?

Free for your first three active manuscripts. Plus (€2.99/mo) removes the limit and adds the calendar feed and email reminders; Pro (€6.99/mo) adds auto-sync, journal turnaround data, analytics and your custom public page. Prices include VAT.
